The lodge which openen late 1900, has been transformed by it’s owners into an eco-friendly lodge, deeply committed to the development of the community.
Their vision is to protect the environment, to empower the community and ensure that tourism has a positive impact on the inhabitants of the villages around. The staff-members, from guides to the restaurant servants, all are coming from the surrounding village.
ACCOMMODATION: The lodge consist of a camp-ground, forest huts and the authentic Basotho Rondavels. A choice for every budget
All the huts and buildings are built the traditional way. You’ll discover that air-conditioning is not needed in the Rondavel huts. The Rondavel shape keeps you cool during the day and warm at night.
The lodge is fully solar powered and electricity shuts at 10 at night.
ACTIVITIES: The area is rich for its hike-trails in the surrounding mountains. From a village tour, a Basotho blanket ceremony, to full day hikes to the waterfall, mountain biking, or to see the bushmen’s paintings.
A unique experience in this area of Lesotho, is the Basotho pony trekking. The small but strong horses will carry you over mountain hills passing waterfalls, from 2 hours to 2-day treks sleeping in a Basotho village.
All the activities and treks are recommended to be done with a guide. The guides are from the surrounding villages and know the area like their own pocket. They love to share their knowledge on the culture and surrounding fauna & flora.
Visitors willing to help can bring donations at the lodge through school supplies or secondary clothing. It’s always good to ask what’s needed if you decide to do so, before you go.
